National Educational Policy (2020) suggested that there should be an interconnection between curricular and co-curricular areas. Hence, school should provide multiple opportunities to students to train them in enhancing their creativity and emotional wellbeing. An integrated plot form of arts, crafts and play is necessary for children to learn with joy. For this purpose, No Bag Day has been introduced in school education. As the name suggests, during the No Bag days, children do not get their bags to schools and do not engage in subject-specific academic activities. The First and Third Saturdays in the month are dedicated to nurture the other (Non academic/Co-curricular) aspects of child growth and make learning more fun and holistic. The focus areas on these Saturdays will be on life skills education, English language skills enhancement, physical activities, arts and crafts.
Timeline and schedule
- Classes 1-5 1st and 3rd Saturday (monthly) 90 minutes each theme.
- Classes 6-8: 3rd Saturday post-lunch periods (monthly) 40 minutes for each theme
- Play time Physical activities - Games, Gardening etc.
- Creative time: Arts and crafts like drawing, Spray painting, sand painting, clay moulding, origami, collage work, DIY projects etc
- Language time : Focus on LSRW Skills during Pre and Post reading activities
- Theatre time: Performing arts - dancing singing, life skills / 21 century skills / SEL / Bala Sabha, etc.
- a. Excursion (Bi-annually) to local post office, court, police station, Hospital, Secretariat, Panchayat, Banks, Factories, Farm visits, Planetariums, Science museums, etc.
- b. Child Fair (annually) - Whole school project where all the children in the school get together

- All the District Educational Officers in the State are here by informed that SCERT developed Academic Calendar for Primary , Upper Primary and High School levels for the academic year 2019-20. Certain new Initiatives has been planned to introduce in schools to improve levels of learning of the students by making schooling is joyful. In this connection a special programmee- No School Bag Day (Srujana-Sanivaram sandadi)- was designed for Primary school children.
- The main objective of this programmee is to create joyful, child friendly learning atmosphere in all Primary schools. As part of this children have to participate in different creative activities. Children can learn things easily by involve in such creative activities. In this context this No School Bag Day is designed for primary school children.
- No School Bag Day (Srujana-Sanivaram sandadi) should be conducted Is' and 31(1 Saturday of every month. The whole day is meant for conduct of interesting creative activities instead of regular class room teaching. Session wise activities was designed separately for class I & II and Class III to V. All children from class I to V should participate class specific activities as mentioned in Academic Calendar.
- In this connection all the District Educational Officers may inform to instruct all Primary Schools under all managements to implement No School Bag Day (Srujana-Sanivaram sandadi) in the 1st and 3rd Saturday of every month by conducting interesting creative activities. And also instruct all Mandal Educational Officers and School Complex Head Masters to ensure the effective implementation of the programmee as mentioned in the attached annexure of this proceedings.
సృజన - శనివారం సందడి (No School Bag Day)
ప్రాథమిక పాఠశాల విద్యార్థుల్లో మానసిక ఉల్లాసాన్ని కలిగించి వారిలో దాగి ఉన్న వివిధరకాల సృజన్మాక నైపుణ్యాలను వెలికితీసి, మెరుగుపరచి ఉత్పాదకతరూపంలో ప్రదర్శించేందుకు ప్రతి నెల మొదటి, మూడవ శనివారాలలో సృజన - శనివారం సందడి అనే ప్రత్యేక కార్యక్రమం అమలు చేయాలి. రోజూవారీ పాఠ్యబోధనలు కాకుండా ఈ కార్యక్రమంలో కథ, పాట, అభినయం, బొమ్మలు గీయడం - రంగులు వేయడం, బొమ్మలు తయారు చేయడం, ప్రదర్శించడం మొదలైన అంశాలు ఉంటాయి. ఈ రోజులలో పిల్లలు పుస్తకాల సంచి తీసుకురావలసిన అవసరం లేదు. శనివారం రోజు సెషన్ వారీగా నిర్వహించవలసిన కార్యక్రమాలు క్రింది పట్టికలో పరిశీలించండి. సూచన: ప్రతి నెలలో ఒక సారి సృజన అంశాలపై పోటీలు నిర్వహించి బహుమతులు ఇవ్వాలి. ప్రతిభ కనబరిచిన విద్యార్థుల సమాచారాన్ని సంబంధిత అధికారులకు పంపించాలి.
