    What is SSC General Duty (GD) Constable?

    The SSC GD Constable is an examination which aims to recruit the eligible candidates for the General Duty Constable Positions under the CAPF Forces, Secretariat Security Force (SSF), and Assam Rifles (AR). The CAPF (Central Armed Police Forces) in India refer to the group of paramilitary forces under the administrative control of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). These include the following:
    • Border Security Force (BSF): It secures the borders of India, particularly along the Pakistan and Bangladesh borders.
    • Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF): It manages Internal security, counter-insurgency, and counter-terrorism operations within the country.
    • Central Industrial Security Force (CISF): Provides security to industrial units, public sector undertakings, and other critical infrastructure.
    • Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP): It guards the India-China border.

    • Register and Create an Account: Visit the SSC website and register to create an account if you haven’t already. The candidates can create the account on the left hand side of the website. The candidate required the details of name, date of birth, email id, mobile number to register your account.
    • Fill the Application Form: After registering the User ID and Password will be sent to your account. Log in to your account and fill out the online application form. Ensure accuracy and completeness of all information.
    • Upload Required Documents: Scan and upload the necessary documents, such as passport-sized photographs, educational certificates, and caste or category certificates (if applicable).
    • Pay the Application Fee: Submit the application fee online using the specified payment methods (e.g., net banking, credit/debit card, UPI).
    • Print and Keep a Copy: After successful submission, print a copy of your application form for future reference.

    SSC GD Constable Selection Process 2025

    The selection process for SSC GD Constable involves three main stages:

    Computer Based Test (CBT) – Candidates must achieve the following minimum qualifying marks in the Computer-Based Examination (without considering bonus marks for NCC Certificate holders) to be eligible for shortlisting to the next stage (i.e., PST/PET) of the Examination:
    • UR (Unreserved): 30%
    • OBC/EWS (Other Backward Classes / Economically Weaker Sections): 25%
    • All Other Categories: 20%
    Physical Efficiency Test (PET) / Physical Standard Test (PST) – Based on their performance in the Computer-Based Examination (CBE), candidates will be shortlisted for the Physical Standard Test (PST) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET) by the Commission. The PST and PET will be conducted at various centers determined by the CAPFs. Shortlisted candidates will undergo biometric verification before proceeding to the PST and PET. The PST will include measurements of height, weight, and chest (as applicable) discussed further in this blog.

    Detailed Medical Examination (DME) – Candidates’ eligibility and documents will be thoroughly reviewed during the Detailed Medical Examination (DME) and Document Verification (DV) stages. It is crucial for candidates to ensure they meet all eligibility criteria as outlined in the Notice before appearing for the CBE, PST, or PET, discussed further in this blog.

    Document Verification – Candidates called for Document Verification must present original certificates, including marksheets and provisional certificates, to prove they have completed their Matriculation or 10th Class Examination by the cut-off date of January 1, 2025. 

    Failure to provide these documents will lead to the cancellation of their candidature by the Commission. Please note, Few incentives are provided to NCC Certificate Holders as such:
    • NCC ‘C’ Certificate Holders: 5% of the maximum marks of the examination
    • NCC ‘B’ Certificate Holders: 3% of the maximum marks of the examination
    • NCC ‘A’ Certificate Holders: 2% of the maximum marks of the examination
